Our 2009-2010 Lancaster AGO season gave us opportunities to sing hymns, attend two extended workshops (one with our national AGO President Eileen Guenther, the other at January Jumpstart), enjoy an organ crawl in the Lebanon area, hear our fellow members in recital, hear a panel addressing how we motivate ourselves, attend our annual meeting, and support our annual recital in the Summer Arts Festival. It’s been a busy year and your board trusts that you found something of interest that was helpful as you minister to your congregation.
This coming year will provide similar opportunities. In September we travel to Marietta to explore the recently restored organ at the Union Meeting House followed by lunch and a tour of Columbia Organ Works. The October meeting is a members’ recital. In November we will hear a presentation of the Alexander Technique and how organists can benefit from this method. January Jumpstart is again scheduled in Bryn Mawr. In February we will have an evening workshop on using MIDI with the organ. March’s meeting will be a hymn festival in which individuals or choirs will join together to present this open-to-the-public program. Our annual chapter meeting will be held in May, with program details still being finalized. And, of course, we cap off the year in June with our annual Summer Arts Organ Recital. Additionally, our Lancaster Organ Showcase series will have two recitals this year – Gordon Turk in November and Shelly Moorman-Stahlman in May.
As always, we look forward to seeing you at meetings. Our goal is to have more of our members attend – won’t you look at the offerings each month and make an effort to join us? Attend, give us your feedback, offer suggestions for coming years – learn and grow through what is prepared for you.
